The Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on Youth Affairs, Comrade Johnpaul Anih has offered scholarship to over 30 indigent students from his community, Akpugo in Nkanu West Local government area of the state for three terms.
The beneficiaries of the education support scheme were drawn from three secondary schools which include; Government Secondary School, Agbani, Technical College, Obinagu-Uwani and Akpugo High School.
The initiator of the programme, tagged “JOHNPAUL EDUCATION SUPPORT SCHEME”, Johnpaul Anih who also made cash donation as well as presentation of bags of rice assured the community that the scheme would be sustained so as to afford the less fortunate in the society opportunity to achieve their dreams.
He said the programme is part of his contribution to support and consolidate on the policies and programmes of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whom he said has touched the lives of the people.
Anih, who earlier visited an abandoned borehole in the community said the Ugwuanyi administration has the interest of the people at heart and would do everything possible to assuage their plights.
Governor Ugwuanyi who was represented at the occasion by his Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Manfred Nzekwe thanked Akpugo people for their continued support for his administration.
Also speaking, the traditional ruler, Ndiagu-Uwani Akpugo, His Royal Highness Igwe Innocent Ogbodo commended the philanthropic gesture demonstrated by their illustrious son and charged other well-meaning individuals in the community to emulate him so as to improve the general wellbeing of people in the community.
