As part of efforts to sustain Governor Ugwuanyi’s Safe Environment Policy, the Coordinator Enugu Clean Team Project, Rev Fr. Michael Ogbu has advocated for private public partnership in Sustaining the laudable drive.
Fr. Ogbu made the advocacy in Enugu on Friday while monitoring the activities of the members of the Team who works from Monday to Saturday.
Daily Star Online News correspondent reports that Fr. Ogbu called on Ndi Enugu to cooperate in Sustaining the initiative for a cleaner and healthier Enugu State.
“Keeping the environment clean is important to being healthy. Many disease causing germs exist in dirty environments, such as the ones that cause diarrhoea and worm infections. This means that many diseases can be prevented through good personal hygiene, and by keeping the environment clean”
He stated that the present administration in Enugu State under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whose one of his agenda is to ensure a safe environment, had graciously established the Enugu Clean Team Project inorder to leave Enugu cleaner, than he met it.
Fr. Michael Ogbu urged the citizens to always dispose their refuse properly than littering the environment.
“A clean environment is essential for healthy living. The more you don’t care about our environment, the more it will become polluted with contaminants and toxins that have a harmful impact on our health. Air pollution can cause respiratory diseases and cancer, among other problems and diseases”
Seeing the negative impact of this, Governor Ugwuanyi is not resting on its oars in his determination to ensure safety environment.
In an interview, three residents Nkechi Okeke, Ferdinand Ojielo and Peter Mba lauded the performance of the ECTP stating that their performance which is visibly seen within and outside the metropolis, should be encouraged and sustained.
They however called on the government to increase the workforce.
