Scrap 1999 Constitution, let people decide their fate through referendum – Sowore
The publisher of Sahara Reporters and the presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) in 2019 general election, Omoyele Sowore has called for the scrapping of 1999 Constitution.
The anti corruption activist made this call on Tuesday in preparation for a nationwide mass protest his ‘Revolution Now Movement’ is planning to embark upon on today.
According to Sowore, ” The 1999 constitution is a fraudulent document, scrap it and let the people make their own constitution.”
Sowore was arrested and detained by the Directorate of State Services ( DSS) on the eve of same RevolutionNow protest which he mobilized for a year ago, but was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on the 4th of October,2019.
But the trial Judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu ruled that after meeting his bail conditions, Mr Sowore should remain in Abuja till the case is determined while his co-accused, Mr Bakare, should not leave his place of residence in Osogbo except for the trial.
